Why do headlights yellow?

As most people are aware; unfortunately the automotive manufacturing industry in Australia has long ended.

ALL cars now are imported from manufacturers internationally who don’t accommodate for Australia’s severe and unrelenting climate and weather conditions.

It is no secret Australia’s intense UV is one of the most unforgiving on our planet.

All modern plastic headlights are made with what is said to be a “protective coating”, however, after as few as three years in the harsh Australian sun, it can break down quickly, with dramatic effect, causing what is known as “yellowing, “clouding”, “fade”, “haze” or just plain dull……and this is their “protective coating”.

How do you restore the headlight ?

FROM YELLOW TO CLEAR, WHAT’S THE PROCESS?

Remove the entire “protective coating”, after all, it’s only the protective coating that breaks down, not the actual headlight plastic!

The “protective coasting” needs to be removed with care so as not to damage the actual headlight plastic.

Chemicals and harsh abrasives can all damage and weaken the headlight beyond repair.

Only after completely removing the entire “protective coating” can the polishing process begin.

A machine polisher is necessary here, with the absolute best quality in polishing compounds for plastics, coupled with a steady hand an eye for detail, a lot of care and years of experience.
